We did have fun. "63 was a great class. Remember going to the shore and getting so burned one of us nearly fainted on Mary" bathroom floor. But didn't we look healthy and tan. Dumb !!

I actually did faint one time after a day at the shore.  Scared my parents to death.  Quick recovery but I've never done THAT again!

I also remember Jan kept turning her back to the waves.  Carol and I kept yeling to watch the waves.  She listened when she got wiped out and was scratched from elbows to knees.

I am still dumb.  I love sitting in the sun and the ocean is still my favorite place in the world!

I still do not know how Carol died.  Does anyone?

I believe Carol died of cancer or complications from it.

Carol was one of my first girlfriends. I remember taking her to see Psycho and having nightmares while she enjoyed it. A very special woman...

Carol died of a cancer growth in her neck that matastized. She gave up smoking a few years ago but the damage was there. I had moved from Sarasota and couldn't be there for her when she needed a friend the most. It became almost impossible for her to speak. She was with her dog when she fell then died.  It saddened me she refused to give up her dog to move to Athens, GA and live with me or anybody. I hated she was alone with just a neighbor to help her get groceries once a week. She loved her home and died peacefully surrounded by her world of colorful artwork. She was exceptionally kind to those in need, loving to her friends and gentle to all those she met.

As for car humor in high school, she continued to be funny in adulthood. When her car door would not open she would climb into the open window and jokingly pop up through the open top of her car then slide down the back window and trunk laughing all the way. Her spirit was priceless!

Thank you Cindy, for the update.  Very sad.

Thanks so much Cindy for the information.  I am kicking myself for not being better at corresponding once we had reconnected.  She was a special friend in high school. We talked about getting together. Don't put it off! You might not have the time.   Donna
