I remember Donald as we went to Wyoming School together and I have looked back in a grade school memories book and I have a picture of Don and I listed him as the shyest boy in our class.  I didn't really connect with him in high school but I do remember him as a very sweet guy.  Sorry to hear of his passing.

Don was in my kindergarten class at South Mountain before he moved over to Wyoming, a good guy.

Donald Warren VanTassel died Monday January 6, 2014 in Hunterdon County, NJ. He was 68.
Donald was born in Port Chester, NY on October 1, 1945, a son of the late Irene (Swift) and Douglas VanTassel. He lived in Millburn, Millington, and Washington Township NJ before moving to The Villages FL 4 years ago. They were back and forth though out the year to their home in FL and their current NJ home in Whitehouse Station.

He was a graduate of Millburn High School class of 1963. After Graduation he enlisted in the US Army and fought during the Vietnam war from 1964 - 1967.

After an Honorable Discharge he worked for the Long Hill Township Police Department achieving the rank of Lieutenant. During this time he attended Kane College receiving a BA in Public Administration. He was also the owner and operator of At Home Pet Care, a mobile pet grooming service for over 17 years.

He was an avid golfer and enjoyed travel including recent trips to Russia and Germany.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Karen A (Brosky) VanTassel, his son DJ and his wife Tammy, a daughter Jennifer and her husband Joachim Heppner, and 5 grandchildren Jessica, Julia, Ryan, Lauren and Jack.
