This is the first time I've ever added anything to a memorial notes.

Emily was the kindest person I've ever known.  It's funny when you think about old friends.  I think about Emily pretty much every time I'm cooking.  In 1967 Margy Cross Stowell and her husband gave a bridal shower for me and my fiance Mike at their place in Brooklyn.  Emily and Ed gave us a 3 piece bright orange kitchen utensil set: a ladel, a spoon with holes, and another spoon.  I still have two of those utensils.  I use them regularly and I think of Emily every single time I use them.

Emily was always mature beyond her age, or beyond my age at least.  Always generous always, willing to listen, always a true friend..  Honest, trustworthy, compassionate.

So  with many of our classmates, I mourn her passing, but cherish so many memories.

Marilyn

Emily is a friend whom I felt would be here forever. Even when we were in high school, she was mature and somehow seemed wise and grown up. A special part of our junior and senior high school years, she was a steady and reliable part of the Girl Scout troop that included 9 of us on a trip to Europe the summer between 11th and 12th grade. I think it was before our 25th MHS reunion that I had invited all of that famous troop of Girl Scouts to come to my house in Ct. Emily, Carolyn Lawton, Betsy Butler, Marilyn Gechtman, Marilyn Strubbe and Barbara McGuire made it. We called Susie McKinnell in Colorado (We weren't able to find Celia Welsh). We didn't camp out those 36 hours or so but we have a great picture of us in front of a Girl Scout banner Marilyn Strubbe brought with her.

Emily ad her husband Ed had a wonderful, long marriage with lots of happiness--times in Lake George, Livingston NJ and eventually near their children in Maryland. A truly special woman. I'll miss her not being here anymore.

Very sad message to receive about our I  knew Emily thru MJHS & MHS' graduating in 1963. She had a very kind  & gentle soul. I never heard say a harsh or unkind word about anyone or anything. She will be missed by everyone  who knew her. R.I.P.  sweet Emily. Sincerest sympathy to her family. Al (Cooker) Lotman
